University of Basrah Investigates Two Types of Vaccines Against Avian Pathogenic Bacteria
A doctoral dissertation at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah, investigated the development and evaluation of two types of vaccines against Avian Pathogenic Escherichia coli (APEC), through a comparative study of ghost vaccines and liposomal vaccines.
The study, conducted by researcher Ahmed Hamid, aimed to develop and evaluate the efficacy of two novel vaccine types against APEC and enhance the immune response to prevent infections.
The dissertation involved developing two vaccine platforms—ghost vaccines and liposomal vaccines—against APEC. It also compared their efficacy with that of a conventional whole-cell inactivated vaccine and a crude vaccine to assess their protective effectiveness.
The study concluded and recommended the development of a multivalent vaccine against APEC using the investigated technologies to ensure broad and effective protection against different pathogenic strains.
